PPAC Sub-Committees

The members of the Philadelphia Flyers PowerPlay Advisory Committee (PPAC) work in sub-committees to further the work of the Committee and team. The sub-committees include Executive Committee, Recruitment Committee, Events Committee, Fundraising Committee, and Tournament Committee. The PPAC will add or remove sub-committees as needed. Each sub-committee will have a chairperson and a vice chairperson. The sub-committee shall include any interested member of the PPAC, the team, or any individual recommended by the Committee. The PPAC is composed of non-paid volunteers.

Please review the duties of the Chairperson and Vice Chairperson as well as their duties for each sub-committee below. If you are interested in joining one of the sub-committees, please contact the PPAC at powerplayac@gmail.com.

Sub-Committee Duties

The duties for the Chairperson and Vice Chairperson of each sub-committee include the following. Each sub-committee will have other duties specific to the work of the sub-committee. 

Chairperson: 

  • Guide and direct the Committee and team in its mission and program functions. 
  • Guide and direct all members of Committee in their respective duties. 
  • Facilitate all meetings to ensure progress towards the mission and goals of the Committee and team. 
  • Provide a meeting agenda and meeting minutes to the Secretary of the Executive Committee. 
  • Actively participate in Committee and team functions 
  • Provide team happenings and updates to the Executive Committee and appropriate sub-committees. 
  • Serve as the liaison for the team and coaches. 
  • Serve as a liaison with all sub-committees. 
  • Serve as a liaison with other organizations. 

Vice Chairperson: 

  • Assist Chairperson with Committee duties and team functions. 
  • Act in the Chairperson’s absence. 
  • Actively participate in Committee and team functions 
  • Provide team happenings and updates to the Executive Committee and appropriate sub-committees. 
  • Serve as the liaison for the team and coaches. 
  • Serve as a liaison with all sub-committees. 
  • Serve as a liaison with other organizations.

Recruitment Committee

The Recruitment Committee members of PPAC shall be the Chairperson and a Vice Chairperson. Other Committee members may include a Secretary, a Treasurer, or other volunteers needed for a designated role. 

Chairperson: 

  • Refer to Sub-Committee Duties Section 
  • Coordinate demos and workshops to promote the team and PowerHockey. 
  • Develop new initiatives to utilize social media platforms to promote the team and recruit new players. 
  • Assist with the design and maintenance of PowerPlay’s website and social media platforms. 
  • Submit to the Treasurer of the Executive Committee a proposed budget for each community event or activity.
  • Work with the Treasurer of the Executive Committee in accounting for receipts and disbursements for all events. 
  • Provide player/family happenings and updates including needs of players such as get-well cards, etc. to the Executive Committee. 

Vice Chairperson: 

  • Refer to Sub-Committee Duties Section 
  • Assist Chairperson with Committee duties and team functions. 
  • Act in the Chairperson’s absence. 

Events Committee

The Events Committee members of PPAC shall be the Chairperson and a Vice Chairperson. Other Committee members may include a Secretary, a Treasurer, or other volunteers needed for a designated role. 

Chairperson: 

  • Refer to Sub-Committee Duties Section
  • Secure venues to use for the season. 
  • Ensure each venue has the necessary equipment for each game (trailer on site as needed, borders, nets, equipment bag, tool bag, scoreboard, etc.). 
  • Coordinate the team schedule for the season. 
  • Coordinate referee schedule for the season. 
  • Serve as a liaison with the Recruitment Committee.
  • Plan and coordinate annual Holiday party, Flyers Alumni event, and end of season social and awards. 
  • Work with other Committees to plan specific events and activities. 
  • Submit to the Treasurer of the Executive committee a proposed budget for each event or activity.
  • Work with the Treasurer of the Executive Committee in accounting for receipts and disbursements for each event or activity. 

Vice Chairperson: 

  • Refer to Sub-Committee Duties Section
  • Assist Chairperson with Committee duties and team functions. 
  • Act in the Chairperson’s absence. 

Fundraising Committee

The Fundraising Committee members of PPAC shall be the Chairperson and a Vice Chairperson. Other Committee members may include a Secretary, a Treasurer, or other volunteers needed for a designated role.

Chairperson: 

  • Refer to Sub-Committee Duties Section
  • Work with other Committees to raise the amount needed to meet the proposed budget for the team and special events. 
  • Work with other Committees to plan specific fundraising events and activities. 
  • Submit to the Treasurer of the Executive Committee a proposed budget for each fundraising event or activity. 
  • Work with the Treasurer of the Executive Committee in accounting for receipts and disbursements for all fundraising activities and events. 

Vice Chairperson: 

  • Refer to Sub-Committee Duties Section
  • Assist Chairperson with Committee duties and team functions. 
  • Act in the Chairperson’s absence.

Tournament Committee

The Tournament Committee members of PPAC shall be the Chairperson and a Vice Chairperson. Other Committee members may include a Secretary, a Treasurer, or other volunteers needed for a designated role.

Chairperson: 

  • Refer to Sub-Committee Duties Section
  • Select venue for the event and secure ample parking options. 
  • Ensure all logistics for the event are covered such as housing, meals, marketing, welcome packets, tournament schedule, equipment, referees, technology, food, awards banquet, etc. 
  • As needed, coordinate travel arrangements for the team. 
  • Work with Fundraising Committee to raise funds for travel team. 
  • Submit to the Treasurer of the Executive Committee a proposed budget for the event.
  • Work with the Treasurer of the Executive Committee in accounting for receipts and disbursements. 

Vice Chairperson:
